Outside Lands Festival 2008

I had the great fortune of being able to attend San Francisco's Outside Lands Festival located in Golden Gate Park.  Although the weather was a bit overcast and chilly, the day couldn't have been more perfect.  I purchased my favorite hoodie (by Alternative Apparel), experienced artists such as Andrew Bird, Rogue Wave,  Wilco, Rodrigo Y Gabriella, and the great Jack Johnson, and fell in love with music*. As I have written about previously, music* re-entered my life in mid-2007, but my love for it didn't fully blossom until mid 2008.  It has been so long without it, that it took me some time to fully give myself to love of it once again.  Although the day was 8 hours long, the time flew right by.  Before I knew it the sun had set and it was time to go home. *sigh* Just as my Death Cab for Cutie experience inspired the first painting, the Outside Lands Festival sparked painting #2. Big Girl Hair Cut

Brooklynn wanted to start off first grade as a "big girl" and a "big girl haircut", so we decided to give her short hair.  My how she is growing up so fast. *sigh*

Oh, Canada!

(above: view from bar @ the Pan Pacific Hotel, Vancouver BC) With the strong urging of a friend (and literally driving me to the post office), I finally got my passport. With it I took a perfect trip to Vancouver to see a Jack Johnson concert.  The flight was all too short, the experience was all too fabulous. Gorgeous view from the hotel, chilly yet cozy weather, community-style wine bar in Blood Alley, inspiration for my coffee bar, Jack Johnson under the stars, and nothing short of perfect company. Some things just are Better Together.
