It's Always Something

So, serious!  LOL

I finally got around to putting up the tile on the mantle in the area between the mantle and the granite. After about an hour of grueling back-and-forth over tile selections, I brought home three different types.  I knew I didn't want anything too plain (like white or black) or typical (slate), but I also was afraid to try anything too bold.  With the consultation of a friend, I decided on a combo of the earth-toned colored-glass and the slate.   As I spread the adhesive on the walls, I got this weird sensation that made me completely happy. I am MAKING something!  I always get so giddy whenever I get to create anything. Always have.   I am definitely adding this to the list of things that was fun to toy around with and I look forward to a much bigger project. I'm thinking mosaic tables. Yay me.

Over the past year, Brooklynn and I have been getting ourselves better acquainted with the kitchen.  One of our favorite activities together is cooking. Brooklynn has gotten to be quite the sous chef and enjoys preparing side dishes like mashed potatoes. She's also big on presentation, so she carefully sets the table for each meal.  Bacon-wrapped pork loin fresh mashed potatoes with sauteed mushrooms  and steamed broccoli
