A Ryan-Foust Baby is coming!

Image
We are all awaiting the arrival of the offspring of Tricia and John. There hasn't been a newborn amongst the friends in a long time and I don't see Gavin often because he's down in Pasadena. I'm looking forward to holding and babysitting a baby again. Little Ethan is due on May 26th, but I'm hoping he comes early. Brooklynn and I can't wait to hold and smother him with kisses! Biermp.

Indian Culture Night

Image
In keeping with the world culture tour, we decided to expose Brooklynn to authentic Indian cuisine. We dined at Shiva's in Mountain View where we all wore modern bindis (dots) on our foreheads. B liked the beautiful bindis so much, she wore them to school the for an entire week. Namaste!

Choices

Even as a kid, all the answers weren't always so clear to me. In history class, I struggled with most multiple choice tests. Not because I didn't understand the material, but because I was able to rationalize how every answer might have been true at one point or another. I would sit there and analyze each answer over and over again, and in the end if the answer wasn't as clear as day for me, I chose the one that felt right to me. Some I got right, others were completely wrong. As I get older, I realize that not a lot has changed. I still make the easy decisons based on logic, the harder ones based on feelings. I'm just not sure which ones are right anymore.

Chinese New Year w/ the girls

Image
Brooklynn and I joined the girls in San Francisco for a Chinese New Year celebration. We all decided to dress up in traditional Chinese dresses to make the event extra special for B. In addition to all of the delicious food, we also entertained ourselves with a long game of charades. Xiexie!

The Next Shaun White

Brooklynn and I just took another one of our Lake Tahoe trips. I am so proud of how well she snowboards. Definitely puts me to shame! We arrived on the mountain first thing in the morning and we closed it down, too. We'll try to make it up one more time before May. Fingers crossed!

Secrets

I think the term "secrets" has been given a horrible reputation. "Secrets" is generally associated with things in a negative way as if having them is a bad thing. Everyone has secrets. They are called secrets because they are private things. Things that other people don't need to know or maybe shouldn't. I share my house, my money, my clothes, my time, my food, my friends, my fun, my sadness... everything. Sometimes secrets are the only thing some of us have that we don't have to share with anyone. Which is probably why we get so upset if we tell someone a secret and in turn that someone tells another person and so on. That secret was private. But if that is the case, we should keep our secrets to ourselves.

Moment of Clarity?

I generally think people are good... but boy are we capable of some bad things. Now I understand what I need to try and teach mini-me. I just hope I am a worthy teacher.
