Brooklynn in New York: Day Two

(above: bed buddies- Brooklynn & I)

The alarm came too quickly this morning.  It would have been nice to sleep in until 8am; however today was my first day at my new job. We all got up, got ready for the day, and headed off to breakfast at Moonstruck right around the corner from our hotel. It was colder and wet today, so rain boots and an umbrella were required.  After the lovely breakfast, I was walked to my new offices in New York at Spire Vision off 34th and Madison Ave.  After a tearful goodbye, Brooklynn moved on to discover New York City and I ventured upstairs to discover my new colleagues.

While I encountered meeting after meeting, my thoughts wondered off thinking about Brooklynn's first day in New York.  Thankfully, I received many pictures and updates about her tour of the American Natural History Museum, her walk through Central Park, and the conversations she carried throughout the day. I was reminded several times today that
Brooklynn is a special, curious, and well-behaved girl.  I am so relieved she is having a good time while I work.

Lunch in New York is around 2pm.  At that time, my new colleagues and I went to a nearby restaurant- Moonstruck! LOL.  Brooklynn happened to be finishing up her day while I was at lunch and knew where I was eating lunch.  As I sat and chatted while we waited for our food, I noticed a head bouncing up and down through the restaurant's window. It was Brooklynn!  She
had come by to see me.  SO cute! =]

I was able to call the day quits at around 530pm when Brooklynn arrived to pick me up with a surprise for me- a double tall vanilla mocha from Starbux. Awwwwww! Boy, did that make my day! As we walked back to the hotel in the drizzle of rain, I sipped on my favorite coffee drink and heard all about Brooklynn's exciting day in New York. I envied all the fun she was having, but also felt proud she was getting to enjoy her Spring Break in NY.Back at the hotel, I
celebrated my first day at the new job with a nice bottle of wine.  We chatted some more, relaxed a bit, then freshened up for dinner.

With no concrete plans, we walked about town.  Brooklynn was very excited to show me how to ride the subway, so we took the B train downtown and explored the city.  After walking for a bit longer than we expected, our hungry tummies brought us to the perfect restaurant for the night.  A dimly lit lounge style restaurant playing classics 80's songs named Thalia.  After a great bottle of Sangiovese to accompany our entrees, we enjoyed 3 types of creme brulee. Mmmmm...

After dinner, we headed back to the hotel. It was so late already and we were all pooped!  With a recap of the day + a bedtime story, it was lights out.  New York. Lovely breakfast. Productive work day. Sheer excitement on B's face. Double tall vanilla mocha. Wine. Walks. Friendly company. Dinner. Nice hotel. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect first day on the new job.
