Not Your Average Friday

Today was one of those perfect days that erases all the bad ones from memory. In fact, as I sit and type, I cannot recall how I felt on my last bad day (which was yesterday). *smile* It started off with me sleeping in for the third day in a row and STILL making my two conference calls starting at 9am. Hi5. I got work done, cleaned up a bit, and was able to make a nice lunch for myself, Jeff, and Brooklynn- baked chicken + cous cous & steamed asparagus. Washed it all down with beer and good conversation. Following lunch, Brooke and her dad spent some quality time at the park flying our dragonfly kite while I dozed off on the couch listening to music. Yes, it was a great afternoon. When the evening arrived, we had plans to experience Christmas in July with a friend and his son. As we waited to be picked up, us girls freshened up and packed warm clothes for the night. It's always nerve wracking at first getting two kids together because you never know if they will get alon...

One Heart

Both of us understand At least when we want to Knowing what makes us happy is the hardest thing to lose Shallow as we may be as deep as we want to As simple is better rough so leave some time for me and you. This love is brighter This life is higher One heart is wider One heart Love is not a trend It's when we want Called is old fashioned call it fake But it's the way we get through. This love is brighter This life is higher One heart is wider One heart

TCB (and Myself)

This morning I woke up and looked at myself in the mirror for a loooooong time. I realized that I have begun to get into another rut with this whole WFH gig. That I may be getting too comfortable with being in my favorite jeans EVERYDAY and not taking pride in my personal appearance. Not that vanity should be a priority, but we all know that when we look good, we usually feel good. And when we feel good, anything is possible. Quite honestly, I dislike wearing makeup. Mostly because I have no idea how to apply the right makeup to the right areas. In my opinion, I usually end up looking like a transvestite when I wear makeup. No bueno. With that in mind, I will continue to not wear makeup. BUT, I will make a conscious effort to dress myself better, brush my hair, exercise, and eat healthy. I should not have to remind myself of these basic things! Also. The second thing I hate more than wearing makeup, is having to "do" my hair. Blow dryer. Flat iron. Thickening spray...

And on the Seventh Day...

We woke up early this morning at 5am. We started breakfast @ camp, cleaned up the site, and were on the road home by 9am. But it didn't stop there! We dropped Boo off @ the doggie salon to get all cleaned up from camping, grabbed coffee + books with a friend, unloaded the camping gear, played some Wii Sports, picked Boo up all fresh and clean, refilled dad's gas, then headed to Livermore to return the truck. Wiiiiiiiiiiii! Once we reached the parental units' house, it was finally time to REST. The units were BBQing, the Giants game was on, and I was making myself comfy in the recliner. As I TRY to fall asleep, I am bombarded with family stories, questions, followed by random thoughts of the laundry and dishes waiting for me at home. Arrrrrgh! It's ALWAYS something! Mmmmm... bacon burger + curly fries.

Happy 33rd Birthday, Liberty!

Today we celebrated my BFF and Blynn's god-mother's birthday. Opposed to the previous birthdays, we decided to stay very mellow this year with brunch and a morning hike @ Stinson Beach. Although this wasn't an all-out rager , I particularly enjoyed spending quality time with a friend I haven't seen much lately. It was great to catch up, see what old & new, and have the opportunity to enjoy each other and nature. No frills. No fancy entertainment . No extravagance . Just us. @ Fred's Coffee Shop before the hike The leap for joy. The happy dance. Passed out! Happy birthday, to one of my oldest friends. xoxo

What a way to start July. As I am driving from the parental unit's house to my own, Brookie and I blow a tire on the freeway. I was unable to pull on the shoulder due to some construction work, causing me to stop dead in the middle of the slow lane on a downgrade of the freeway. Can you say "SCARY"??? Thankfully, the construction workers pulled Brookie out of the backseat while I climbed through my front passenger window to safety. Here we waited for my good friend to arrive for help. Both Brookie and I were instantly relieved to him there as he swooped in like a superhero. As I waited for the CHP and AAA to arrive, my friend took Brookie home so she could decompress. Once my car was off the highway and in a safe place to change the tire, AAA got to work. Although my dad had told me HOW to change a tire, I had never actually done it before so I was a bit apprehensive to try myself. So when the AAA guy suggested he change the tire, I was more than happy to let him...
