Goodbye, 2009.
So many lows in 2009. Financial hardships. The decision to divorce. Friendship woes. And heartbreak.
On the flip side, 2009 also brought numerous highs. Music. Inner strength. Creativity. Love. And most important of all, it was another year spent getting to know Brooklynn better.
The Highs--
Thankfully, I was able to take Brooklynn to New York this year. New York left quite a positive impression on her. 2009 was also the first year she had a busy schedule. Monday-Saturday she concentrated on school, guitar lessons, and Chinese language lessons. She read one book a month and enjoyed her video games and drawing. We also made sure that together we cooked, read, and drew/painted. On our weekends together, we'd spend our time at concerts, museums, the theater, and hikes.

Brooklynn and I started The Bstar Project in late 2009, as well. Although it's been difficult to get dedicated volunteers, we are SO grateful for the few that committed their time.
Aside from Brooklynn, I was able to find my inner strength this year. I picked myself up after numerous falls and disappointments. I also explored painting which has become my new favorite past time.
The most precious thing about 2009 was finally realizing the true meaning of love and being able to experience it.
The lows--
Job change. Twice. An upside down mortgage. Finally deciding to move forward with the divorce. And the death of my dear aunt.
I also experienced the disappointment and heartbreak that can come from true love. I learned that friends come and go, and then come back again. And that I need to learn to expect nothing.
To date, 2009 has been my most challenging yet rewarding year. I am thankful for the tough 2009 because it will make 2010 that much more sweeter.

I brought the New Year in with some of the people who love me most, Brookie Bear + my brother's family. Although I desperately wished for one more person to be with us, I suppose the world was as it should be. Everyone was where they should be.
Goodbye, 2009. Don't let the door hit you on your way out!
