First Grade Homework "Describe Yourself" Project Gingerbread Man Project

HWP Productions

Image
In mid-2008, I teamed up with two friends to start a side-project centered around music, nightlife, and good times.  We formed a company called- Hard Working Professionals Productions, aka HWP Productions.   The inspiration came from becoming close friends with Atomic DJ.  We both frequently talked about the state of music, the lack of creativity in club hits, the riff-raff that accompanies most nightclubs, and the overall anti-climatic experiences we both experienced.  With Atomic DJs eclectic style of music and my eclectic lifestyle, we set out to create the type of nightlife we wanted to experience which included music other than club hits, hard working professionals that wanted to mingle without drama, and an all-around good time.  We enlisted the help of another buddy to help with scouting out the right venues as our platform and HWP was created. It's been 4 months now since inception and HWP is off to a good start in the South Bay. We manage a portfolio of djs that fit our vi...

Project: Bedroom & Dining Room Re-org

Image
Although we have been in the condo for over a year, I am still slowly putting the place together.  Since my tastes are always so  eclectic, it makes it difficult to commit to a decor.  You can often find me redecorating my living quarters every season. Recently, I have put together the corner area in my dining room that will eventually become a full bar area when completed.  Because we live in a small space, I wanted to make the corner functional for everyday life, but also remind me of the movies with fancy wet bars.  I will fill it with great wines and liquor, purchase my crystal decanters and feel oh, so posh. =] I also put my bed on a bedframe... FINALLY!  This is one step closer to making the headboard I want from scratch.  I hung some of my favorite pieces of Brooklynn's old artwork from 2003 on the walls, which will eventually need newly painted frames. Ultimately, I want this room to be relaxing, fresh and clean.  Taking from the Zen teachings, I want my bedroom to be a pla...

Outside Lands Festival 2008

Image
I had the great fortune of being able to attend San Francisco's Outside Lands Festival located in Golden Gate Park.  Although the weather was a bit overcast and chilly, the day couldn't have been more perfect.  I purchased my favorite hoodie (by Alternative Apparel), experienced artists such as Andrew Bird, Rogue Wave,  Wilco, Rodrigo Y Gabriella, and the great Jack Johnson, and fell in love with music*. As I have written about previously, music* re-entered my life in mid-2007, but my love for it didn't fully blossom until mid 2008.  It has been so long without it, that it took me some time to fully give myself to love of it once again.  Although the day was 8 hours long, the time flew right by.  Before I knew it the sun had set and it was time to go home. *sigh* Just as my Death Cab for Cutie experience inspired the first painting, the Outside Lands Festival sparked painting #2. Of coarse, the above is only the first layer.  Since it will encompass my love for music*, it w...

Big Girl Hair Cut

Image
Brooklynn wanted to start off first grade as a "big girl" and a "big girl haircut", so we decided to give her short hair.  My how she is growing up so fast. *sigh*

Oh, Canada!

Image
(above: view from bar @ the Pan Pacific Hotel, Vancouver BC) With the strong urging of a friend (and literally driving me to the post office), I finally got my passport. With it I took a perfect trip to Vancouver to see a Jack Johnson concert.  The flight was all too short, the experience was all too fabulous. Gorgeous view from the hotel, chilly yet cozy weather, community-style wine bar in Blood Alley, inspiration for my coffee bar, Jack Johnson under the stars, and nothing short of perfect company. Some things just are Better Together.
