First Science Fair Project

--- UPDATE  3/26/09 ---
Brooklynn's experiment "Best Light for Flowers" won 2nd place in the first grade science fair division (out of 12) .  1st place was awarded to the experiment "Sink or Float".  Although Brooklynn does not get to exhibit her project at the county science fair as she had hoped, we are still very, very proud of her. =]

Brooklynn's favorite subject in school thus far is... science. The Science Fair is Monday, March 23rd.  Although the Science Fair does not require mandatory participation from students until the third grade, to my delight Brookie was one of two first graders who entered anyways.   Since we have been having trouble with our Meyer lemon tree, Oscar, this harvest Brookie decided to figure out what made flowers or plants grow best- sunlight, indoor lamps, or no light at all.

After a few weeks of observations, we discovered that the plant in the dark grew... BEST!  After calming ourselves from the burst of laughter upon the discovery, I checked the labels on the flowers we purchased. "Best suitable as an indoor plant with little light".  WHOOPS!

Needless to say, we skewed the data a bit.

Below are some pics of Brooklynn putting her project together for the Fair.

I must admit, I am mighty proud of her. *sigh*
